The KU Chamber Players, conducted by KU student Tyler Readinger, will perform an evening of three unique concertos that showcase different combinations of solo instruments and chamber orchestra. The soloists will be KU faculty members pianist Maria Asteriadou and flutist Susanna Loewy; KU flute student Fawn Guasta; former KU Summer Chamber Music Festival Concerto Competition Winner, cellist Andres Sanchez, currently a student at the Curtis Institute of Music; and guest artist Kurt Nikkanen, concertmaster of the New York City Ballet Orchestra. The program will feature the Doppler Andante and Rondo for two flutes and string orchestra; the Haydn Concerto in C Major for cello and chamber orchestra; and the Mendelssohn Double Concerto for piano and violin in D minor, written by the great composer at the age of 14.
